The fees to join the Independent Safeguarding Authority scheme that will be obligatory for the 11 million strong workforce that works with vulnerable adults and children have been announced. Phased in over five years, the scheme opening date has been put back a year to 12 October 2009.

The NHS Information Centre has now produced the statistics of its weekly survey of homecare from September 2007 and it finds that 78% of total contact hours of homecare were provided by the independent sector in England, a rise of 3% from last year.
